Romanian for Ages 9–11 – Level 3

Level 3 – Let’s explore! Wow! That’s so cool!

Exploring the world, asking questions and discovering new things.

At this level, children use Romanian to discover and understand more about the world around them. We work with engaging texts and materials about nature, science, history, the arts and culture, using simplified Romanian that is accessible to their age.

When they find out why it rains or why some animals hibernate, their attention is on what they want to discover, not on the fact that they are learning about it in Romanian. They read, listen to and watch materials in Romanian because they are curious and want to learn something new. And, almost without noticing it, they gradually understand more and more in Romanian. We use texts, pictures, videos, cartoons, tutorials and other age-appropriate materials, while new vocabulary is introduced and used in context, without the need for translation (the direct method).

As they discover new information, children learn to ask questions, make connections and look for answers. In this way, they develop not only their Romanian and general knowledge, but also their critical thinking and their own learning strategies.

Everything happens in a warm and safe environment, with patient teachers who pay attention to each child’s pace. We encourage children to be curious, ask questions, try out answers and express their ideas, even when their language is not yet perfect.

By the end of the level, your child will be able to:
  • understand the main ideas and specific information in short messages, both spoken and written;
  • recognise and use a wider range of vocabulary related to a variety of topics;
  • understand simple information about the world around them and answer questions about it;
  • form short sentences orally about themselves, their experiences and their world;
  • write short sentences, often following a given model;
  • take part in simple activities and interactions in Romanian, using what they have learned.

Through curiosity, discovery and interaction, children develop their Romanian vocabulary and understanding while learning new things about the world around them. Classes take place in small groups, so each child receives the attention, encouragement and space they need to make progress with confidence.
