Romanian for Ages 7–9 – Level 2

Level 2 – Let’s Start the Adventure! And then what happened?

Stories, games and lots of imagination.

At this level, children begin to understand very short and simple stories and use more and more words and expressions in Romanian. The stories follow repetitive patterns that are easy to follow and remember, while new vocabulary is introduced in meaningful contexts that children can relate to.

We use the direct method: Romanian is spoken throughout the class, and children are encouraged to use the language from the very beginning. To help them understand without having to translate every word, we use pictures, gestures, facial expressions, movement and repetition. We also use Total Physical Response (TPR), helping children connect words and expressions with actions and movement. This makes Romanian easier to understand and remember in a natural and enjoyable way.

Everything happens in a warm and safe environment, with patient teachers who pay attention to each child’s pace. We encourage children to answer questions, ask questions of their own and use what they have learned, even when they don’t always have the right words yet.

By the end of the level, your child will be able to:
  • understand the main ideas in very short and simple stories;
  • recognise and use a wider range of vocabulary related to familiar topics;
  • answer simple questions about a story or situation;
  • use basic conversational phrases and very short sentences;
  • take part in simple activities and interactions in Romanian.

Through stories, games, movement and repetition, children gradually develop their Romanian vocabulary and understanding, while becoming more confident using the language. Classes take place in small groups, so each child receives the attention and encouragement they need.
