Romanian for Ages 13–15 – Level 5

Level 5 – We practice! Now we know how!

Understanding how the language works, practising and learning to use what we know with more clarity and strategy.

At this level, teenagers understand grammar rules, notice patterns and learn to use them in a variety of contexts, both in speaking and writing. Grammar is approached from the perspective of someone learning Romanian as a foreign language, taking into account the specific difficulties faced by non-native speakers.

We work with literary and non-literary texts and strengthen vocabulary, grammar, phonetics, spelling and punctuation through a variety of exercises, reading comprehension and writing activities.

As teenagers at this level are approaching Evaluarea Națională, we also work with exam-style tasks and sample papers. We help them understand texts, identify what each task is asking for, formulate clear and accurate answers, and organise their work more effectively. As they practise, teenagers learn to check their answers, identify mistakes and gradually develop their own strategies for working through tasks. This helps them approach the assessment with more clarity, confidence and less stress.

By the end of the level, your teenager will be able to:
  • understand and analyse literary and non-literary texts appropriate to their level;
  • apply vocabulary and grammar knowledge in a variety of contexts;
  • correctly use phonetics, spelling and punctuation;
  • give clear and accurate answers to Evaluarea Națională-style tasks;
  • organise their work more effectively and check their answers;
  • gradually develop their own strategies for working through tasks and approach the assessment with greater confidence.

Through practice, feedback and clear strategies, teenagers become more confident when working with Romanian tasks and expressing themselves both orally and in writing. Classes take place in small groups, so each teenager receives the attention, feedback and encouragement they need to make progress.
