RoLS Summer School

A summer where children discover Romanian, gain the confidence to speak it, play, have fun, and build connections with others.

RoLS Summer School is an intensive Romanian language programme for children who are learning Romanian as a second/foreign/heritage language. Throughout the programme, children hear and use Romanian every day in a safe, friendly environment filled with activities that are so engaging that they often forget they are learning.

Plenty of Romanian, in meaningful contexts

At RoLS, we speak Romanian with the children, using language appropriate to their level. New words and expressions are introduced in meaningful, real-life contexts through stories, pictures, gestures, games, intonation, and plenty of conversation – rather than through translation.

In this way, children gradually learn to recognise and understand more and more Romanian and, most importantly, begin to use the language more naturally and confidently.

We learn through stories, play, and experiences

A day at RoLS Summer School is about much more than sitting at a desk and completing exercises. We use stories, games, interactive activities, engaging materials, and educational technology to make Romanian a lively and enjoyable experience. Children discover new words and expressions while playing, creating, exploring, and interacting with others. Every activity gives them real opportunities to listen to and speak Romanian, without the pressure to speak perfectly and without the fear of making mistakes.

A place where children gain confidence

We believe that, in order to learn a new language, children first need to feel safe and confident enough to try. That is why we create a warm, friendly, and supportive environment where every child is listened to, respected, and encouraged. Our teachers provide positive feedback and pay attention to each child’s individual pace, personality, and needs. Small groups allow us to give each child individual attention, notice their progress, and provide plenty of opportunities to speak, participate, and feel proud of what they can do.

At RoLS Summer School, we want every child to leave with more than a richer vocabulary.

We want them to have discovered new things.

To have met new people and created wonderful memories.

And, most importantly, to leave with the feeling that they can speak Romanian, that it is perfectly okay to make mistakes, and that they are getting better and more confident every day.
